Good day Sir,

I have this 2000 model Lexus Rx300. It brings out black smoke. Went through your videos and I was pointed to check MAF sensor. I have changed it & also checked for air intake manifold leakages. The black smoke still on. At times, the black smoke smell of gas. I put it under OBD2 scan, it showed P0171 code, which still points to MAF sensor. Please, what else can I do to fix this, it is gulping a lot of gas. Someone is suggesting I change the computer brain box, but I don't want to do any other thing until I hear from you.

Am one of your fans, I watch lots of your videos and am excited with your lessons. Am writing from Nigeria.

  • Hope to hear from you. Thank you.

Black smoke is on burn gasoline so for some reason you're getting too much gasoline or one of your ignition spark plugs is not working. Sometimes it would be as simple as one of the fuel injectors is going bad and leaking fuel so pull out the spark plugs. And if only one of the spark plugs is dark and black that's the problem right there
