Hi All
I did Scotty's finger test on the exhaust. My 2004 Pontiac Vibe's exhaust pipe is completely clean, but my wife's 2020 Kia Stinger GT2 with 7000 local driving miles is black. I read in Car & Driver that black soot is common in the exhaust pipe when driving under low load conditions with the GDI engine. Is the finger test still an effective way to quickly evaluate a modern gdi engine? Here's the article: https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a22974104/black-exhaust-pipes-car-direct-injection/
Thanks,
Mike
Well he is off and run like that they're poorer made and they don't run as well that's just how it goes that's why I don't buy Korean cars
Thank you Scotty. I do know how you feel about Korean cars. My wife had a Camry for 15 years before the Stinger. She is extremely particular and not one to rush into things. But amazingly she loved everything about the Stinger...the color, the shape, the seat comfort, etc. If she didn't buy it who knows how long she'd be looking for the perfect car. She still loves it after a year, but you won't be surprised, the sunroof rattles like crazy and now there's a dash rattle too and Kia has been unable to solve the issues.
