I am trying to fix this myself to avoid getting taken advantage of. 1988 Ford Crown Victoria, Auto, 141,000, personal car.
When I start the car the blinkers will work or not work. If they work the air and heat work. If they don't the air/heat doesn't work. If I have the blinker on when it does not work the brake lights are dim when pressed. I was hoping it was maybe the ignition or turn signal switch. I need to see where to start. I have limited automotive skills. Thank you!
check the wiring it might be a short somewhere and check the alternator if not it might be a relay so you can also check the flasher relay but mostly there is something wrong with the wiring.
It seems to me, that it is a short. I would make sure that everything looks correct for the wiring and maybe take it to a trusted mechanic that can tell you what wiring is wrong or broke, or if it is something else that is wrong.
