I recently acquired a 2011 Odyssey EX-L for which I recently replaced the battery (86k miles). When I installed the battery all worked but the Vehicle Stability Assist light and the Anti-lock Brake System Indicator light remain lit. I tried using the BlueDriver diagnostic tool (an excellent buy) to clear out the other codes but these remain on. I checked YouTube that showed to jump the 1 and 9 jumpers but that didn't work either. I understand this model does have issues with it's electronics which I hope to eventually fix. Any ideas on how to correct this? I believe it is preventing me from programming a new key remote.

1: Check the tire size on that vehicle could be wrong size and car will give you the VSA code. If not follow the steps below. Hopefully this helps.

Honda ABS / VSA Fault Reset Procedure:

  1. Short pins 4 and 9 on the OBD connector located under the dash on the driver side. I used a paper clip, but any stiff (solid) light gauge wire will do. Click on the photo below right to expand and you can see the pin numbers marked in the plastic.
  2. Now put your foot on the brake pedal and hold it down lightly while turning on the ignition switch to position “II” (all the dash lights come on, but don’t start it).
  3. The ABS indicator will come on, but then should go off, at this point release the brake pedal (some have found better success by releasing the pedal quickly after the light comes on).

  1. The ABS light should come on again, press the brake pedal again and hold down lightly.
  2. The ABS light should go off again, release the brake pedal  (some have found better success by releasing the pedal quickly after the light goes off).
  3. After a few seconds watch for the ABS light to blink twice and go off, if it does you have successfully cleared the fault codes.
  4. Turn the ignition switch off, remove the key and disconnect the jumper wire from the OBD connector.
  5. If the ABS light comes back on again after step #7, do the entire procedure again, it may take a few tries to get the fault codes to clear.
