by going to the Kelly Blue Book website kbb.com and looking up a vehicle.

Take it with a grain of salt though. The prices seem inflated to me.

As a retired dealer, here is a good way to tell value, search loan value, subtract for usual stuff, high miles, damage, where you live and if it's a dealer. Loan value is wholesale, add two grand. Usually that is retail, throw that out window if it new car dealer selling it. Always check it's not flipper, title brands like reconstruct drops values to half wholesale,

Anything is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it at any given time.

Rather than go by book values, you may want to look into what other cars like the one you want to buy/sell are going for in your area. That will give you an idea of what people are paying for the car in reality.
