Don’t buy it for a daily driver. Remember it’s also all the other things besides the powertrain that can break that can result in a money pit. Also, it behooves you to learn as much as you can about working on those vehicles yourself and where to buy parts at a reasonable price - it will make it easier to digest the total cost of ownership. If you go to an independent BMW mechanic or the dealer - you will be paying a small fortune each time you need something done. If you don’t plan to work on the car yourself - don’t even bother. It’s not for the faint of heart.
