Scotty I'm think of getting a sports car that's reliable and I'm curious to know is a 2013 Hyandai Genesis Coupe 2.0t Premium a good reliable car. It have 150k miles, I4 engine with a 8 speed automatic for 8k. If not, then what do you recommend that'll last long.

VIN number: KMHHT6KDXDU097974

OP is asking about the Genesis coupe:

Scotty's comments dealt with both the specific model and the brand as a whole. I suppose I focused on Scotty's assessment of the brand. Point taken, though.

Endless moneypit

At that high mileage, I would pass;  that vehicle is most likely on burrowed time.  Also, Hyundai Motor Group quality on their vehicles  has been declining so it’s best to avoid them.  And the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty - which is Hyundai’s only ace up their sleeves - only applies to the original owner.  As for a replacement, can you tell us under your post above what constraints you are after so we can suggest an alternative sports car?

In a word: NO.

No, they are not, they are endless money pits as they age and fall apart around the 100k mile mark.

The 2.0T engine is infamous for blowing up and catching on fire, and Hyundais are infamous for horrendous quality control. They can't last beyond 100k miles in the US.

I recommend a Lexus GS or Honda Civic Coupe

I got a 2000 tiburon, which is like the great grand father of what your looking at, and also a grand i10 2017, so, I'm my experience I can say that hyundais are great vehicles easy to work on, but, they turn into endless money pits real damm quick if you don't watch out, so, unless that car has got an amazing record of every job it has received or the price drops right in half, i'd say run away real fast

If you want something like it, keep searching for one either cheaper or way lower mileage, under 100k is a must for me when getting a hyindai

As a GDI engine, find out if they did the intake port cleaning at every 15,000 miles or less intervals its whole life. If not, as most everyone declines this service when the dealer mentions it, or they can't prove it, assume the back of the intake valves may need to be cleaned potentially by disassembling the engine or replaced entirely. That's advice I give for any GDI engine. I know somebody with a MINI that never had the intake valves cleaned and he had to have the engine disassembled to clean them....expensive.

My wife has a 2013 Genesis Coupe 3.8L V6 naturally aspirated that she bought new. We did the dealer intake port cleaning every 15K miles and at the same mileage as the 2.0T you are looking at, I've got no complaints. The car has had only one maintenance repair under warranty in all this time and miles; that is, a bushing failure I believe either with the sway bar or sway bar end links allowed the sway bar to cut into both front tires so watch for that. Otherwise, everything else on the car is still working like the day we bought it new. Keep in mind my wife drives hers like a grandmother (we're an older couple when we bought it and not a younger couple that may drive harder or faster, we still have a Grand Marquis to give you a clue), so it hasn't been hammered on and not a single maintenance item interval was ever missed.

We also have an engine oil catch can on ours to help keep the intake port clean.

Oh, and the one you are looking at has a small displacement four cylinder with a turbo, as Scotty says, a lot of pressure and probably jumped on hard regularly since it was a sports car. So factor that as well.
