Hey scotty! 97 328is was stalled twice without oil then was serviced by myself and constant knocking went away and turned into a 5 second startup knock. Any info would help!

Sounds like it has something hurt internally. I would borescope the cylinders, or have a mechanic do it, and see what shape things are in.
