Topic starter

i have a 2003 BMW M3 with a problem, starter disabled due to p/n and will not crank,no failed start, just silence, borrowed a scanner from a friend got the following codes
disabled due to p/n code,
clutch activation dynamic,
Can-bus to electronic transmission control(EGS Control Unit)
Terminal R
Can-Bus Faulty
K-Bus

so far i have checked the fuse, relay SMG relay, brake pedal/brakes,Smg indicator and gears match up,(gear indicator on dash indicates that its in neutral, rolls freely likes its in neutral)indicates thats its in gear, feels like its in gear and so forth . says it disabled and won't crank

also have another issue, the fuel pump will continue to run if the key is in the "start" position and will not simply prime and stop.as long the key is turned to "start" the fuel pump is running and does not stop,it is not "stuck" on.if the key is off or on accessories it isnt running but if turned to start then it continues to run.

Any help is appreciated

Well let me tell you something about m series BMWs they are not do it yourself repair cars. When I lived in Houston I know guys who would work on some BMWs but they wouldn't even touch the m series because of their complexity.you will have to find a guy who really understands those things it's way too complex to guess on there's wiring or computer module failure but tracing that down on one of those monstrosities with 50 or 60 separate modules woah

That's why I stayed away from the M series lol. I love BMW and the M performance series, but the M series is just way too complicated (over engineered).

Going to sound like a yes man to scotty.

That gear box in that car  was great  for performance but it a very very touch gear box and you need to know someone who has worked on it before.it was not built for daily driving.

I see an m car (a true m car not one with a badge on it ) and I run.  They just arent made for daily drivers and it to hard to work on ,tweak and part cost $$$$ more.

And I love and own money pit cars.

Find someone who is a specialist and dont mess up anything  else is my advice.

True m series make  crap project cars.

Worst of all every m series get beaten at the drags ....

People enjoy leaving them in the dust including the v10 m5
