Hi - My 2005 325i BMW SportWagon (88,000 miles; automatic) is not happy. Several weeks ago...it died on me. Lots of dash lights came on...and the engine slowed down...before shutting off completely. The battery checked out fine. A few days later...it happened again. My mechanic read the codes and replaced the crank sensor. He also replaced the vacuum lines and fuel filter. But it died again. Took it back to mechanic. No fault codes were stored. He kept the car for 8 days...drove it...left it running...it never died on him...and never prompted any codes. So I picked it up...used it for another week...but it just happened again. This time...the yellow triangle w/exclamation point, the red battery icon and the red oil icon came on before it died. I let it sit 10 minutes...started it up...drove less than a mile...and it died again. What is going on? The mechanic said the TSB indicates that this particular engine might have a fuel injector harness problem. He said it could also be a bad ECM, but that there's no way to diagnose that. That I would just have to ask the dealership to replace it and hope that it fixes the problem. Do you have any suggestions?
Hy!
You have to decide if you are willing to put big money with repairs since your BMW is beginning relationship with mechanics and you will have to pay for its rendezvous.
Good luck on your divorce with it.
Your car is starting to turn into a money pit.
Has your mechanic already pressure tested the fuel pump?
