Took my BMW X3 2014 to the mechanic, it had a slow startup to no start at all, whining noise coming from the hood at times, the screen would turn off when the car turned on. Difficult for the car to break. Mechanic told me I had to replace the alternator, belt and battery. For the price of $1,500 ? I want to take it to another mechanic for a second opinion, could it be the starter?
Mileage- 80,500

Load test the battery and alternator first.
