Back again Scotty hope you are well!!! 

Here today to have you settle a debate in a car group i belong to. I proposed that adding a body kit will almost always add weight and therefore make the car handle worse and wear out suspension, trans, tires and engine prematurely. Whats your take on this car mod? Vehicle of topic is the 6th and 7th generation Celica.

It depends. A carbon fibre hood decrease weight.

make the car handle worse

Again it depends.

On a Formula 1 car, the various added surfaces can redirect forces to improve handling. The weight is therefore offset.

On a street car, I do not think you will notice a difference in weight or handling. I think kids think it just looks cool

 

and wear out suspension, trans, tires and engine prematurely.

Nah.

Well maybe the engine and brakes if they don't get the cooling air flow they need.
