Boots missing from steering rack --- dangerous ?

Hello,

I have the habit of doing a quick inspection of the car whenever I wash it and found that the boots of the steering rack are torn how serious is it ? should I replace them and can they be replaced or they go together with the whole assembly ?

are you sure they're torn? I don't see any tears. It looks like it might have just slipped off the flange. You could probably just stretch it back over and cable tie it.

Oh you mean it can be stretched over the round/circular flange ? and then secured in place ? nice 🙂

Should I put grease inside the boot before I try to put it back in place ?

No. It’s a dust boot, not a grease boot. Like your shocks
