Electrical issue with 1997 automatic C5. Smelled a electrical burning smell then the driver info center went out. Should I get a scanner or just take it to the dealer. It only has 13k miles on it believe it or not. Peace

OEM infotainment systems are proprietary and would have to be repaired by a dealer. The burning smell, that's definitely not a good sign..

Actually it is the corvette info display that has the mileage, mpg etc that went out. It is standard equipment. But thanks for responding Peace

The HUDs were more primitive in earlier year Corvettes but it was still cutting edge technology. Likely only a very high end scan tool would be of any benefit to you. I noted your low mileage & imagine your car is in top condition. You're not going to let just anyone work on this car. Someone who specializes in Corvettes or perhaps a dealer, they will have the appropriate tool.

infotainment ... on a '97? 😆
Those were the good ole days of knobs and buttons.

omg, he doesn't need help nearly as much as I do ! 😮
