Just had my clutch replaced and I am in the habit everytime i have work done on the car of going thru the engine bay and spotting thing that catch my eye as out of place so now I found this loose wire with a white connector any guess what is this for ?
My car is a 2006 Daihatsu Sirion :

Mystery solved, the mechanic that changed the clutch on the gearbox forgot to attach the wire to the gearbox. It was the wire that tells the car that the reverse gear is engaged.
So my back up light was no working and also the parking sensors

Well examine all the equipment that is within reach of the plug for an empty socket.
But, it could just be an accessory you don't have. Manufacturers will often use the same harness for different configurations of cars.
