Hi Scotty!,
I drive a 2016 Honda CRV, with 202,000 miles on it. I also drive it to rideshare
A month ago my brake pedal gets harder sometimes, then turns back to normal then gets stiff again (vice versa). I sent it to my mechanic, then found that a hose connected the brake fluid reservoir was leaking. He decided to clamp the hose and also replaced the brake fluid reservoir cap since it was also loose.
The remedy seems to not hold up
Cause, a month later the brake pedal still has the problem but now gets stiffer than a month ago, and also when I press the brake pedal to stop, the car seems to lose power like its gonna stall. The brake pedal now also "hisses" (from the brake pedal NOT from the engine side), whenever I step on it when im at a stop.
Should i replace the master cylinder? or the brake booster in this case? Thank you Mr. Scotty 🙂
I would replace the master cylinder and check the large vacuum line from the booster to the intake manifold for cracks and leaks.
Thank you for the reply! 😊 Ok, so I don’t have to worry too much about the booster?
