Brake pedal initially doesn't respond, then suddenly locks rear wheels.

I have an 05 silverado 4x4 with the 5.3l vortec. I changed both front calipers and both back wheel cylinders and all new pads and shoes. Bleed the brakes multiple times and no longer get any air but i still have no pedal what so ever. And when it does lock up its only the back tires working.  Any clue how to fix this?

Could you please clarify. "no pedal" does that mean when you press the brake pedal, there is no resistance and it goes to the floor? And what do you mean by "lock up". What is "it". Do you mean that your rear wheels lock up when you press the brake, or in other words, the anti-lock brake system malfunctions? ( so I guess the pedal does work a bit?). Thanks.

Pedal goes down to about the last half inch without any signs of breaks at all. But when you push it the rest of the way the rear wheels lock up completely

You may need a bidirectional scan tool to bleed the ABS.

Solved it.  The problem was a bad mechanic. Aka myself.   My dumba** had the calipers on upsidedown on the wrong side. So therefore it wasnt bleeding them correctly
