  • Hey I have a 98 Camry 2.2l that I just bought Akebono brake pads for. Was wondering what would be a good brand of rotor to go with those for just normal, every day driving and for staying quiet. Thanks a bunch!!

Any good brand should be OK (Centric, Bendix, Raybestos, etc.). They're pretty much all made in China these days, even Brembo which is the brand I usually buy. The major brands (hopefully) keep an eye on what's coming out of their Chinese factories which may not be the case with cheap no-name "white box" rotors.

Putting some disc brake silencer on the back of the pads will help keep them quiet.

I was wonder the same thing as OP and was searching around looking to see if anyone had experience with any of the brands I've found for my car. I do specifically remember Scotty saying in a few videos that you don't want to go too cheap on rotors because they can warp easily, but being basically a big hunk of metal, you can still get away with using cheap rotors. He recommends getting the second cheapest one you can find at the auto parts store. In my case though, (1993 Volvo 960 sedan), I'm buying online from rockauto, and Centric seems to be the cheapest followed by Dynamic Friction.

wondering*

You can buy almost any rotors but avoid buying the cheapest one.
