Hey Scotty and friends. I have a 2013 Chevy Sonic RS with about 86,000 miles on it. When I turn on my A/C it makes a high pitched noise that sounds like it'll blow my head off. It only happens when the A/C is on and only when I'm idling and stepping on the gas (doesn't seem to happen if I'm coasting). I changed the serpentine belt because that's the obvious fix, but it still happens. What could be wrong?
Can you please make a YouTube video of the noise & post the link here?
If you have a manual belt tensioner, adjust it. If it has an automatic tensioner, the belt tensioner might be faulty.
That sounds like it makes sense. I'm going to my mechanic in a couple days, I'll have it checked out!
Change your cabin filter and clean our any crud that might have gotten in the plenum.

Here's the video.
Sounds like it’s one of the pulley’s.
Are all of the dash vents open all the way?
Passengers sometimes shut off a vent, and this will cause a high pitched sound.
