how long can a minor leak at the bake vacuum pump be left before needing to be repaired?

You mean the brake booster? Don't mess around when it comes to brakes, repair it ASAP.

not the booster the vacuum pump that is attached to side of the motor itself it is shaft driven and has an oil leak
It might help if you gave a little more information, however in general any fault in the brake system is potentially dangerous and should be repaired immediately.
