Subaru Impreza '17

Hi, I had to get my coolant changed for my Subaru impreza 2017 at 65000 miles. My mechanic added the Honda All seasons coolant Type 2 instead of the Subaru brand coolant (they both are blue). He said it is the same thing. Should I flush the coolant and add the Subaru branded coolant as the Subaru Handbook says?

Nah that Honda coolant is fine

Thank you!

I agree... should be fine.  The Japanese brands tend to use similar coolants.  You can check the spec sheets to be sure.

Ill admit, though, understanding coolant compatibility is a challenge.  And unfortunately, you can’t count on the color (though that would be a nice place to start with industry standardization)

Thank you! I was looking up my car's manual and it says to only use Subaru Long Life coolant. May be I wasn't looking in the right place. I agree about the standardization!
