Scotty,
I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima with 309,000 miles. During the freeze we had in February my brake pedal was stuck. It took several hard pumps to get the brakes to work. Can you tell me why they did this and how to prevent this again. Thanks
I would start with check all the brake calipers to make sure they can move as they supposed to.
Have you ever change/flushed your brake fluid? Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air. Now, brake systems are pretty airtight, but 20 years is a while.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic - meaning that it absorbs moisture during its life in your car through the pipes, and hoses etc. If it's been a while since your brake fluid was flushed or ever, then there's water in the brake fluid and likely froze up. If your brake fluid looks like the 1st picture then need to flush out the old and fill n bleed with new clean brake fluid
