Dear Scotty,
I have an ‘04 Tacoma with 175k miles and I’ve gone through three sets of rotors from auto parts stores, to include the latest of slotted and drilled. I still seem to get vibration and possible warping. Is it time for new calipers? If so, do you have a recommendation? Thanks!
Check your wheel bearings for wear and proper torque adjustment. They probably aren't running true.
- What is your calipers are worn are they sticking on because the master cylinder is not releasing pressure
are you having problems stopping?
Just a constant warping of rotors
Buy thicker/better rotors and make sure lug nuts are torqued evenly
I had bought the truck used and they calipers came with. They seem old but functioning. It doesn’t appear to dragging or pulling to one side when braking. The previous rotors I had showed signs of bluing in the discs.
uneven lug nut torque can cause premature warping of brake discs.
Scotty,
Would you recommend using a brake upgrade kit which uses a Tundra’s caliper/pads for an ‘04 Tacoma? It has the same bolt pattern with larger calipers.
