I have 2001 bmw 525i with 118,000 miles. Why did my cars brakes apply themselves?
Can you explain what happened?
One morning leaving for work my brake pedal was hard as a rock. Midway through my trip I pressed the pedal and it left my foot and went all the way to the floor stopping me when I was just trying to slow down. Had a flattened vacuum line so I replaced it. During the replacement the check valve tested bad so I changed it out too. Having thought this was my problem, driving to work the other morning the pedal went to the floor without me touching it.

Your 22-year-old ABS system may be going funny in the head. A professional-grade bidirectional scan tool is needed to diagnose those systems.
That was a thought also, so I borrowed one from a workmate. Haven’t hooked it up to the car yet. Thanks
