Break-in oil

2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid, 2500 miles. Purchased exactly one year ago. Was told I need to wait at least 5000 miles to allow the break-in oil to set the seals. Delima it’s been a year. Should I change the oil now or wait until I have 5000 miles? Oil looks new on the dipstick.

Thank You,

Mark

Cars don't come with break in oil that's just nonsense. Go ahead and change it it certainly, it won't hurt a thing and oil changes are relatively inexpensive.

Oil lasts one year, or 5,000 miles when it's exposed to the elements. You need to change it, regardless of miles. With that thing being a hybrid, I would be anal about changing it at least once a year. Every time you start and stop that engine, there's a short period where the car is running with no oil pressure. While the oil is building up pressure, there's tiny bit of metal-on-metal contact going on in that engine. With it being a hybrid, that engine starts up and shuts down frequently. Keep the oil clean.
