Breaking in a new car

Scotty,

I just drove home a brand new 2024 Toyota Camry 2.5l 4 cylinder non hybrid with the 8speed automatic. Love the car but do I need to break it in to make sure it last the longest? Or something else? I usually baby my vehicles. Thanks!

No, breaking cars in is a thing of the distant past. Even the owner's manual in my 1979 Pontiac doesn't recommend any breaking in period. Any good mix of brisk and gentle acceleration is fine for the car. Drive it in the city and on the highway, but don't use cruise control for the first 1,000 miles.
