I'm an older female and extremely frustrated with this situation because my 2009 Honda CRV EX just started making a humming/whirring noise like something's rubbing together which was faint at first and then got a bit louder and it's located on the front passenger side above the tire area. It only happens when the CRV is idling and warmed up but nothing seems to be going on when I'm driving then the noise goes away and has been intermittent. My mechanic checked everything out when he replaced the power steering pump over a month ago and I can't reach him right now for further inspection to determine what's wrong now plus his shop is about 40 miles one way so can't simply drop in there unannounced. Please help and offer some valuable advice and what I can possibly expect to pay out of pocket for a diagnosis and also to replace or repair yet another problem with this vehicle. Thank you and God bless!
Well, if I were you I'd go for a different mechanic. If you watch my video on YouTube, finding the source nof car noises Scotty, you can see what a real mechanic does to find the source of noises. A machine like that will always pinpoint a noise and without using something like that and guessing you're just throwing your money away. So start with a better mechanic who has the correct tools
