I just found out my Mazda3 skyactiv 2.0 with 97k miles is burning oil, what do you think are some root causes? Thanks

Clarification: which model year?

You can change your pcv valve and see if that helps.

If it's a DuraTec HE, then you're one of the unlucky ones that have issues with the piston rings.

The car probably was used in short drives.

As others have suggested, you might want to change the PCV valve - sometimes that's what's causing these issues.

Besides change the PCV valve, you may try some oil cleaner and pray it helps. Otherwise, you are likely looking at worn piston rings.
