Hello, thank you for your time in advance for looking at this post.
No OBD codes found.
There is a strong burning plastic smell coming from the underneath bonnet of the car constantly there whilst idling or driving in drive mode specifically.
This isn’t noticeable in cabin and only occurs in Drive mode. No smell at all when in Sport mode. On one occasion initially the glow plug sign flashed less than a minute simultaneously with the smell but disappeared and hasn’t appeared since.
I would really appreciate some information regarding this. Thank you,
Best regards,
Update:
Smell has disappeared
Well often that is oil dripping on the exhaust and you got to find where the oil leak is coming from. Like bad valve cover gaskets. But sometimes plastic bags and crap get on the exhaust and then they stink. So jack it up and crawl under there and see if anything is melted onto your exhaust
Update:
a temporary fix
Driving the car in sport mode has seemed to solved the plastic melting smell.
I have also investigated that there is no leak or anything stuck to the exhaust.
What seems strange to me is that this smell only occurs in drive mode and not in sport mode which leads me into thinking there’s a much deeper problem here.
As always, Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,
