Hi Scotty, I have a 2018 Mustang EcoBoost with only 17,000 miles on it. It will have around 18,500 when the lease is up. I really want to enjoy the v8 experience I had back in my youth when I had a Maverick. I am not sure if I should buy a 2021 5.0 Mustang or to purchase my current lease and then put in a new crate engine. I expect the lease car to have less than 50,000 miles on it in 2026. The difference between the lease purchase and the new 5.0 payment would be around $22,000. Would that amount cover all the other normal items needed to be upgraded or replace on modern cars with 50,000 miles?  Lastly... would I really just be better served to buy someone else's 2018 5.0 lease turn in?  My Ford dealer said he can sell used cars too even though he is in the new car sales office. ..  I should have kept my Maverick..  Thanks   makery

The new 5.0L V8's are total junk. Ford started using plasma lining for the cylinder walls in 2018 and it all went downhill from there. I've had 2 Mustangs and 1 F-150 with that motor. Both Mustangs were oil burners and my F150 was the worst vehicle I've ever owned. 2 engines, a transmission, and a lawsuit later they bought it back and that was my last Ford.

Do yourself a favor and search the internet for 5.0L Mustang Coyote issues.
