Buying the New Ford Bronco

I'm going to probably buy the New Bronco, tell me why not? I need a small 4 wheeler to drive in rugged places, and I distrust the Jeep, what option do I have? But I don't understand how the Bronco Sport with a 3 cylinder can do anything?

Scotty's take is that he doesn't know if they are good or not. No one knows. Whats for sure is that the 3 cylinder engine won't be good and it will have problems combining the fact that newer Fords aren't very reliable and that its a new model.

You answered your own question there. I wouldn't buy one for multiple reasons:

1. They're ugly as sin IMO

2. 3-cylinder engine? Torque is what you want off road and not horsepower, but I don't think it has enough guts

3. First year model. I try to avoid those, especially with American brands

4. Overpriced. It's a box on wheels.

If you get one, I would only lease.  Being the first year of this generation, there is the potential for issues/bugs that may take years to work out.  Plus, Ford is not paying you to test for them.  The Ecoboost engines are not the best choices for longevity especially the smaller displacement engines, then again that’s all that is offered on these vehicles - even more reason to lease if you really like them.

I agree on leasing if you HAVE to have one. Get a lease with good terms for buying it when the lease ends, and if you like it, you buy it, if you don't you can walk away smiling.

I  would not buy it because being such a new model, who knows the reliability.  I would also be suspect about a 3 cylinder.  If you really like it, and want to take a chance I would lease one.

I'd go with DayWalker advice, lease not buy.  With all the graet alternatives, why would you want a first year, unproven in reality vehicle? The only vehicle that is uglier than the Bronco is the Tesla truck.
