Scotty I'm planning to purchase this 2012 Mercedes Benz GL450 4Matic with 100,000 miles for $15,800 from dealer. Should I buy it or run away?
Unless you want it as a weekend toy and get a bumper to bumper warranty on that, I would say do not even consider that car.
There is a reason why they got rid of it at 100k. Mercedes start having major issues at this mileage and alot of sensors start failing. I have a Mercedes I work on them all the time and I always tell people to run. I know it sounds like im being a hypocrite but I'm not. I have the tools and ability to fix them and I'm able to get 50% off parts through a friend. Unless you have the same abilities stay away. I can tell you by the time you hit 125k you will have to do around 3,000 dollars in repairs minimum.
Run away
Run as much far away as possible. Those are terrible, over-engineered and notorious for breakdowns.
$16K for a 10 year old hooptie? Nope! The prices they are asking for are criminal. Then again I've only bought a car at a dealer once, usually I buy them off craigslist or private parties.
Definitely run away from it; as Scotty calls them endless money pits.
