Hi Scotty love your channel. My grandparents have a 2001 Cadillac Northstar SLS thats been sitting garaged for about 13 years and was parked in running condition. We tried to start it about 7 years ago but the starter just made a horrible screaming noise. Could the engine have gotten stuck just by sitting there for a long time. I want to try and start it again but I want to possibly fix what could be wrong with it. If I fix it, I can have it for FREE! Thanks!!!

No it’s not a good deal. Stay away from any Northstar made before 2005.

after so many years of standing still, the starter motor can become stuck and if that is the case replace the starter motor. sometimes you can loosen the starter motor by hitting it with a hammer. usually the car engine is not stuck after standing still for a long time. I would replace the engine oil after so many years

Thanks , I'll check the starter motor, and hope that that will solve the problem.

You will only be able to keep that car running if you have lots of money and lots of time to wrench on it. Chevy stops making so many parts for these so you have to find substitutes.  Suspension parts wear out and electrical issues on these can be impossible to track down. I hate to say it for any car, but these belong to history have too many faulty electronics to ever keep running.

@darindux
So in general, they were over engineered at the time, and are becoming too expensive to get parts for. OK.
