Hello Scotty. I have a Cadillac SRX 2011 and it is making a knocking noises only when idle. When the engine is revved up or in gear/driving, the knocking sound dissipates/goes away. Is there a additive that will help the lifters which I believe it is help the knocking noise decrease when idled?
Well if your lifters are making noise additives don't fix. What you would want to do is use my friend Bernie from Albuquerque's ATS engine flush. You put it in rev. It up to 1500 RPM for half an hour then drain the oil and filter and put new oil and filter in. If the lifters are clogged up inside they'll make noise when idling cuz the oil can't flow. Now. If that doesn't do anything, they're probably just physically worn out and they would need replacing which is very expensive on that engine
