Hi guys i need your opinion on painting issue on my Kia soul, as you can see paint completely peeled. What would be the step to restore to original condition.
Do i need to sand that area, then put primer, then paint and at last clearcoat?

Or i can skip sanding and primer? Thanks

If you want original condition, then I recommend taking it to a professional auto body shop.

Best thing to do with this shoebox is to set it on fire and get the insurance, then, buy something decent.

So far other then that engine burning some oil and that paint peeling in the back its ok car, nothing extraordinary but Toyotas were out of my price range. I almost got 2008 Rav 4 but that one had 160k and Kia had 80k for the same price.

I’m actually unsure; maybe try uploading it to a picture hosting web-site and (imgur or something like that) posting the link in the comments

but I’m not sure if this forum allows us to share links…

it does

Is your car white?

If you can’t be bothered respraying the entire vehicle as @mountainmanjoe suggested, it’s time for another vehicle.

Hyundai & Kia have been having trouble with the paint peeling, all over the world. You’re not the only unlucky soul to suffer from this..

Its actually metallic silver, that is the only place along with the other side where paint is peeling... so far.

Just saw your uploaded image. Yeah, they’re notorious for peeling off like that. Have you tried talking to the dealer if Kia is willing to repaint the vehicle for you, under warranty?

Its been out of warranty for some time but they do offer 100k powertrain warranty and this doesn’t fit as powertrain.

It’s a manufacturing defect. And you’re not the only one. Have you had a read of the link I attached?

Now it is 9year old car. Article is from 2016, am not the first owner too. It would be a great hustle and time consuming to go after that when in reality if i would do it myself it would cost around 100-150$.
I know on YT one guy with 2013 kia optima has his car almost completely peeled off. That is worthy of bigger action.

The trouble with fixing only the visible damage is, what happens when other bits of paint start peeling off the other panels, in future?
