'14 Ford Escape How do I remove engine

I have a 2014 ford Escape SE 1.6L Front Wheel Drive that needs the engine replaced. Can I pull the engine out from above (with a hoist), on this particular car?

All the videos I can find show them removing the engine from below the car, but they're pulling the engine and transmission together at the same time.

I need to know if I can split the engine from the transmission while still in the engine compartment, then lift just the engine out with a hoist.

I'd like to know this because if I can pull it from above, I can do it myself at home.  But, if it has to come out from below, I'd have to have a shop do it on a lift.

If you have any advice on this, please let me know.

Thank you,

David C.

P.S. I really enjoy watching your YouTube videos!

Pretty sure the engine will not clear through the top without removing the turbo and exhaust manifold (which are pretty much impossible to get out). It really is worth it to drop it out the bottom with the whole subframe.
