Scotty,

I have trouble putting gas in my car. I have to hold the pump nozzle at the slowest position to keep the auto shutoff from engaging.
My mechanic has replaced the evap valve and filter. What else can I try to fix this?

The trick is to not put the nozzle all the way in but maybe half way in. Some cars have a short "neck" going to the fuel tank and trigger the auto shut off easier than others or you may as well have a problem if the car was not doing that before

So try to not put the nozzle full in and let us know if that works. Also try fuel cleaners the kind you put in the tank along with the gas

Thanks,
If I don’t us the part way in trick I can’t get any gas in at all. You really need to be careful about pulling out too early.
I also use the upside down nozzle trick sometimes.

I miss that show

Get Smart was definitely one of the greats. Loved the Sunbeam Alpine that "Agent 86" drove. (It was decked out like a Sunbeam Tiger but had the 4-cylinder engine to make room under the hood for gadgets.)

The show has made the rounds of networks specializing in old shows but I don't think it's currently broadcast anywhere.
