Hello Scotty,
As part of the Toyota FAQ's for "What should I do to prepare my Toyota vehicle for long-term storage (1-6 months)?" at the below link, it indicates we should operate the air conditioning once a month to ensure proper lubrication. With the Colorado winter coming and my vehicle largely in storage, how do you do this? How cold is too cold to operate the air conditioning and how do I do this once per month if it's cold?
Thank you!
You won't damage anything if you run the air conditioner when it's cold. Everything has sensors, and the computer will cycle the compressor to keep the evaporator from icing up, which is your biggest concern. Just warm the car up and run it on defrost with the heat selected. The air conditioner runs in defrost/ defog mode as long as there's refrigerant in the system, it doesn't matter if you have cold selected or not.
