Scotty, you obviously know that Hyundai is pronounced like Sunday; so why do you mangle the name on purpose? Is your pronunciation related to a previous YouTube or a joke of some kind?
I would not get worked up over it, especially for a brand like Hyundai. Just look at the number of people mispronouncing Porsche. It is what it is - best to move on. Perhaps Scotty will answer this question on YouTube for you - stay tuned.
Obviously?
English doesn't have silent y's. It looks like Hi-un-die to me.
Does Scotty look Korean to you?
Joe, Hyundai had at least a million ads on TV telling people how to pronounce Hyundai. So, unless Scotty has been living on another planet, he knows how to pronounce Hyundai. I was asking a sincere question. I sold Hondas for 2 years, and only ignorant sales people didn't know how to pronounce Hyundai. Scotty is NOT ignorant!
I can't speak for Scotty, and I live on this planet, but I haven't watched TV in over 20 years. If that's ignorance, then I'm blissfully ignorant. Also, old habits are hard to break .... especially if there's no good reason to change them.
The Japanese don't pronounce it "N-eye-con" either, but Nikon USA is absolutely fine with people pronouncing it that way, and they even do it themselves. You're not going to change how millions of people grew up talking over generations with a tv advert.
I will remember them as Hyundon't
Easiest way to pronounce Hyundai accurately: JUNK.
