Check engine light came on po1701 fuel lean engine bank 1, I reset it and ran it for over a year before it came on again, I reset it again and it this time it ran for a few months I took it to the dealership,

The front seal is leaking covering the oxygen sensor with oil, the cam also leaking. They have to pull the engine out to replace a 4K deal.

The plan is to just run this thing til it dies and replace it with a Taco, but the chip shortage prices make me want to wait longer.

How long do you think it will last like this if I just keep topping off the oil and reset the check engine light when it throws the code?

What's obviously started to fall apart but it'll run lean if you get oil all over the oxygen sensor because it will make the oxygen sensor work incorrectly I would try to fix the oil filter in place the sensor and then drive it till the wheels fall off

According to various sources online it should cost between $300 and $400 to replace the front crankshaft seal on that car.

Could I cover the sensor with something like foil? Will it still work?
