I have a 2013 kia rio with 142k miles that burns 3/4 quart of oil every 5k miles. What could I do to stop the oil burning? Thanks

I doubt there is much you can do.  I wouldn't worry too much about it.

That isn't all that bad. Many people with oil burning problems report much more oil consumption (like a quart ever 1000 miles or less). Just keep an eye on it, and check for leaks in case it's dripping and not burning.

That’s not too bad at all.  As they age and accumulate mileage, engines will generally burn some oil.  Just keep an eye on it and adding oil, but 0.75 qt every 5,000 miles for a Kia engine with that mileage is OK.

Cool thanks, I'm glad that it's not anything serious or unusual with a Kia

i am not a mechanic, seems if you cant find a leak, there would be no cheap way to stop it

Most manufacturers have a spec for acceptable oil burning. Every engine burns a little bit like what’s on the cylinder walls from normal operation. If it’s only 3/4 of a quart in 5k I’d say that’s pretty good

Thanks, I'm glad that its not anything unusual with the reputation of Korean cars and all

Very soon, the oil burning is going to be the least of your problems..if Kia’s track record is anything to go by.
