1997 Pontiac Sunfire 2.4 liter, automatic transmission 200,998 miles. Purchased from private seller.

When I slam on the brakes the car dies. I can shift to park and it starts right up. Top motor mount is not to bad, however it will need replaced eventually. Had fuel injectors replaced 3 years ago, new fuel filter, plugs and wires, lower coil pack. I thought maybe a week oil pump but mechanic said it was good( I dont know if hes correct) I've not checked fuel pump.

What’s a ‘harf’?

@itwt
don't you know what harf brake is?
It's just like when you need another harf an inch more room.

Check the vacuum hose to the brake booster, which is the big round thing on the firewall in front of the driver. The car uses engine vacuum pulling on a diaphragm to multiply the pressure from your foot. If you have problems with the hose or booster itself, it can stall; it creates a massive vacuum leak when you slam on the brakes.

Thanx , roger wilco
