Every 3-Row Mid-Size SUV for 2022 Ranked from Worst to Best (caranddriver.com) Last: 4 runner 1st-3rd: kia, hyundai, jeep. How much did they get paid to address this?
The one thing I learned about periodicals, is that their main customer isn’t us the reader, but the companies they sell ads to. They cater to them, not us.

I’m unsure, if they’re paid for by car manufacturers - but don’t forget that Toyota also spends a lot of cash on those kinds of things.
Realistically, knowing car “journalists”, it’s mostly just absolute incompetence.
Obviously they are going to be influenced by keeping the ad revenue flowing but car buff publications like Car & Driver have always focused on features and performance rather than quality, durability, and reliability.
Whoever pays the most get the highest ratings.
If you enjoy being entertained, then you read those magazines.
Back in the 80's I used to subscribe to many of those auto rags, Hot Rod, Car & Driver, Road & Track, etc. I got sick of them all because more and more they were all about the imports and not the big 3. Are they paid or not? I dunno but it wouldn't surprise me.
