Me wife tried to help a young stranded motorist and allowed him to attempt to use our 2012 Jerp Grand Cherokee 5,7 Hemi Never a problem 105 k miles JEEP IS NOW COMPLETELY DEAD TRANS LOCKED NO POWER TO ANYTHING . 2IFE CONFESSED THEY USED THE RED TERMANAL POST BUT COULDNT FIND THE BLACK SO HE OPENED TH3 FUSE BOXANS USED TH3 RED LEMFT TERMINAL IN TH3 FUSE OX. WHEN HE CRANKED HIS LEXIS THE JEEP WENT DEAD. Found trans unlock button under cup holder got to my garage. Meter #hows 12.9 Volts from battery all the fuses I tested Werner good. Still dead Jeep. HELP BROTHER WRENCH TURNERS. NO POWER TO USE SCAN TOOL

That is correct. Or the alternator fusible link , or battery main fuse if it has one.

Unfortunately on modern cars that kind of incident tends to burn out computer modules. You'd think manufacturers would have protection circuitry to prevent that but they do not. That's why most of us here recommend never using jumper cables on a modern car. Use a lithium-ion jump pack that incorporates reverse polarity protection to prevent this from happening. (I realize this does not help you and I truly wish the news were better. Possibly Scotty or someone more familiar with the electronics on modern Jeeps might have more details.)
A thought, check to see if that vehicle has a main fusible link. If you're very lucky it may have burned out and protected vehicle circuitry. (All too often though the circuitry will burn out first and protect the fusible link.)

Wow, keep fingers crossed that the warranty will cover this and that the damage is not too widespread - maybe even just the fusebox if really lucky. Let us know how you make out.
So there is no power whatsoever to anything? Do any lights on the vehicle at all come on? I would double check all the fuses, especially the ones in the fuse box they connected to.
No power to anyything, but terminals in engine compartment showed 12.9 volts all else dead
No power to Anything. No lights but I’ve got 12.9 volts on my meter going to the jumper posts inside Jeep engine area..
