I was in the middle of jumping my car. I have a 00 Pontiac grand prix gt. I turned the key and it turned over twice then just started clicking. So I pulled the key out waited two or three mins tryed again and the car was dead! I've got nothing at all. What would cause this? The battery is brand new. Less than month old.
Ok I've done all of the stuff everyone said. Nothing!!! Could the anitheft system kicked on and locked the car down? And can I by pass it?
Check all your electrical connections and grounds, and once it's running, check the voltage output at the battery at idle. Should be about 14V. If not, alternator is bad.
Also check the ground wires from battery search for dirty, loose and poor connections.
What Doc said. If that doesn't work, check for corrosion. Your cables could be corroded under the insulation and need replacement. Happened to me last year, similar symptoms.
Ok I've checked all the wires, fuses, looked for corrosion. And still nothing. Car came one for just a few min and died again! Could the antitheft system kicked on and locked my car down? And can I bypass that?
Have you checked the ignition switch?
