I have a 2009 subaru outback sport with 125000 miles manual transmission. These are just like a subaru impreza 2.5i with a different trim.
Anyways, the issue I'm having is that when I go into higher rpm (above 3000) in 3rd gear and then let off the accelerator I get this bad sounding revving/buzzing noise from what seems to be my engine or transmission. It also happens when I'm switching from 3rd to 4th or 3rd to neutral in higher rpm. If I stay in lower rpm below 3000 this doesnt happen. I uploaded a youtube video so you can hear the sound. I'm planning on taking to a mechanic but figured id ask the question here before I do.
I heard various noises but one might be the catalytic converter vibrating if it's not that it would be something internal to the transmission a bearing whining off in the main shaft bearings will whine like that when worn
