Scotty. Looking to purchase a Gm or ford vehicle. I am looking for something that will transport me and my 3 kids and is relatively reliable. We just do regular driving nothing off road. We live in Cleveland. I know you are not big on either brand but if you had to buy a new vehicle from ford or GM what would you get?

None. Both makers are pulling out of the compact an sedan market, and their SUV's are unreliable pieces of trash. It's just asking for trouble.

Well, gun to my head if I had to choose, I'd say a 2014 to 2018 Ford Focus.

It's just you and the 3 kids so it's big enough unless you're planning on cross country trips.

Welcome new member,

The answer to that on this forum will always be “none of the above “. But if you absolutely want to get a new Ford or GM, I guess it depends on your budget. A Yukon or Tahoe with the 3L diesel would be OK, but most of them you’ll find on the lot will probably sticker around $70k.  A Traverse also could be OK. Unfortunately, most of GMs entry level vehicles are below mediocre.  Ford is struggling top to bottom.

Whatever you get, the thing is to maintain it aggressively. Even if the owners manual or trip computer says you can go 7-10,000 between oil changes, change it every 5k.  Same with the rest of the scheduled maintenance.

Good luck!

Unfortunately most of their new vehicles are not reliable unless if it's something like heavy duty truck.
