I have a 1997 Ford Escort LX. I have replaced the cataylitic convertor, spark plugs and wires. I have cleaned the MAF sensor and air cleaner. I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. The car idles fine, but when I drive it it is sluggish. Once in awhile I do get full power. I did check the compression on all cylinders and they were all 160 pounds or better. I checked vacuum lines and could not find any leaks. Injectors were new 2 years ago and at that same time I put a new coil on it. The alternator has good voltage. I get no codes.
Maybe the transmission is kaput. What does the fluid look like?
Fluid is good and it shifts ok
There may be no codes but how about freeze-frame data?
I thought freeze frame data is always triggered by, and attached to, a trouble code. Maybe you're thinking of live data?
Yeah, I do tend to use those terms interchangeably even though I know it's not correct. I was thinking by recording data while the problem occurs some clues might be apparent on playback.
No freeze frame data
Chuck means watching live values that are critical to the engine. For example, ignition voltage, fuel trims, mass airflow, etc.
Have you adjusted your throttle cable?
Throttle cable is the same as its always been
