so I was wondering what your thoughts were on purchasing a seventh generation g chassis 2019-2023 bmw 330i x drive. I hear that the new ones are fairly reliable and have a great engine. I wanted to know if you thought it was a better choice to purchase a preowned with a purchased warranty from manufacturer or third-party or buy a certified preowned that comes with a warranty. I would be switching from a Honda with CVT transmission, and I’ve heard bad things about them.

Sounds like out of the frying pan into the fire. If you're concerned about the Honda (for which you gave no details) you'll be mortified at the damage a late-model BMW is likely to do to your wallet as it ages.
If you decide to proceed regardless a manufacturer warranty is the way to go. Most 3rd party warranties are ripoffs.

BMW engines have really never been not reliable. The problem is everything else. Everything the engineers could make plastic that's under the hood, they made plastic. It's cheap for the manufacturer, but they're gonna charge you an arm and leg for you to replace when you need to. They're toys for the rich. I had a '94 BMW 540i, most of the parts were still metal at that time. I drove it while I was in college because I knew a little bit about cars and did my own work.
If you truly want one, lease one and return it when the lease is up.

I'd be driving the Civic over a BMW. They aren't powered by crappy JATCO CVTs, which are basically as bottom-of-the-barrel as you can get. Honda Civic-level budget +BMW =ill-advised.
I apologize, I have a 2022 Honda accord sport 1.5T that was purchased as a cpo, but I don’t believe was inspected. I got it June 28th and up until today spent a total of 25 days in service. Not to mention they checked multiple things off in the inspection that aren’t on my car
@nicogio8 have a mechanic to check anything before the purchase.
