My 2005 Nissan Altima makes a loud squealing noise on a cold start, but only for a second and then it's never heard again. The belt and tensioner were replaced 2 years ago and the water pump was replaced last year and the noise never got better or worse. Check all belt-driven pulleys and accessories for bearing wear. If you have a manually adjustable belt tensioner make sure it's tight enough.
